Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shobhakar Dhakal, Head of the Department of Energy Environment and Climate Change
was invited to join a workshop organized by the University of Cape Town’s Energy Research Centre and African Climate & Development Initiative in partnership with the UK’s Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.
The workshop held from 25 – 27 September 2018 was supported by a grant from the Global Challenge Research Fund (GCRF) of UK. The workshop brought together partners from the Global South and the UK to enhance research collaboration geared towards contributing to solving the world’s pressing development challenges. The key question of the workshop was to look on how to successfully manage the inequalities that emerge from climate change and poverty reduction towards prosperous, climate compatible development pathways.
The workshop aimed to:
- build an excellent, friendly and engaged network of climate and development researchers in the Global South
- co-author a thought piece on: inequalities in climate change and poverty reduction, and
- develop concept notes on sub-themes for future calls.
