Ms. Usatip Kunsit, an M.Eng. candidate from the Environmental Engineering and Management Program (EEM), Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Change (EECC), AIT, has been invited to participate in the “2019 Tsinghua International Summer Program – Environment“, Tsinghua University, PR China for 2 weeks (28 July 2019 – 10 August 2019) and writes about her summer program experience in China.
“Look back on the past 2 weeks, which I have spent in the Tsinghua International Summer Program, there are many of the experiences that I would like to highlight in this summary note. The program helped me to gain new knowledge, friendships and English skills which helps to go forward in academic career. Also, the program has provided specific lectures and discussions conducted by faculty members and guest speakers, who were key players in solving critical environmental issues. Site visits to the leading environmental facilities and enterprises helped understand the environmental solutions. The Program has included a group project relates to widespread environmental issues in China. The participants proposed creative solutions with scientific knowledge and strong teamwork with critical thinking. This activity made me understand group work, with people who come from different academic backgrounds. One of the key values of this international summer program is the diversity of students from different backgrounds and nationalities. We had a chance to share our thoughts, ideas, knowledge and the experience with each other. Moreover, I had an opportunity to visit many of the famous tourist attractions in Beijing such as the Great Wall of China, lama Temple, Beijing Expo 2019, etc. Finally, this trip was one of a memorable event which happened in my academic life.”
Tsinghua International Summer Program was inaugurated in 2013 with the aim of offering students from all around the world the opportunity to acquire a deeper understanding of China’s current environmental challenges.
The 2019 international summer program assisted all the students in their search for environmental solutions through lectures and discussions led by faculty and guest speakers, as well as site visits to leading environmental facilities and enterprises. Students also had the opportunity to explore the ancient history and natural beauty of China.
